Christmas Light Installation in Farmington Hills, MI
5.0 from 792 Google reviews

Christmas light installation in Farmington Hills, on the 1970s and 1980s colonials and quad-levels that make up so much of the city. We supply the lights and hang them, and when January comes we pull them back off, so the ladder stays in our truck.

What Farmington Hills does to your roofline
Rooflines that step up and down
Quad-levels and other split designs from the 1970s put roof sections at three or four heights. Each section gets its own run of lights, and the ladder setup changes every time. It's careful work, and it takes longer than the square footage suggests.
Apartments, condos and houses
Just 55.8 percent of housing units in the city are freestanding houses, and its ownership rate is the lowest of the eight towns we started with. If you live in a condo, check your association's rules on exterior lights before you book.
Cold before the holidays
Detroit Metro's December normals from NOAA: 8.9 inches of snow, and nights that average 25 degrees. Lights hung on a dry October or November day go up safely. Lights hung in a December cold snap are a risk we'd rather keep off your roof.

Why it happens in Farmington Hills
Farmington Hills homes came from the 1970s and 1980s
Farmington Hills grew fast after it became a city in 1973. Its median home dates from 1978, and 46 percent of today's housing comes from those two decades, in the newest five-year Census estimates.
Those decades gave the city colonials and quad-levels with roof sections at different heights. A roofline that steps up and down is harder to light evenly than one long eave.
How we handle it in Farmington Hills
- We provide every light.
- Stepped rooflines on quad-levels lit section by section.
- Second-story gables on colonials hung by Glass Guru.
- Fall installation, before snow and ice.
- January takedown included.
Questions
Christmas lights questions from Farmington Hills homeowners
Can Christmas light installation handle a Farmington Hills quad-level?
Yes. A quad-level has more roof sections at different heights, so it takes more planning and more ladder setups. We light each section as its own run so the lines look even from the street. Tell us which parts you want lit when you request a quote.
How much should a Farmington Hills homeowner budget for Christmas light installation?
We price each house separately. The total depends on the stretch of roofline you'd like lit, how many levels and gables the house has, the pitch, and anything extra like a porch. Your quote covers providing the lights, hanging them and the January removal. Send the address over and you'll get a number.
Can Farmington Hills condo owners book Christmas light installation?
Some associations allow exterior lights and some don't, so read your rules first. If yours permits them, tell us what's allowed and which part of the building is yours, and we'll quote that part. Owners of freestanding houses only need to check subdivision covenants, if there are any.
When do you take the lights down in Farmington Hills?
After New Year's, in January. Taking the lights down is part of the same job, so you won't need to arrange it or do it yourself. We remove the lights from every roofline we hung and the house goes back to its everyday look.
How soon do Farmington Hills homes need to book their lights?
Book in September or October. The install has to happen on a dry roof before the snow, and October gives us the best odds of that. To have the house lit by the start of December, call early.

Christmas lights in Farmington Hills, explained
Holiday Lights Ceremony at City Hall
The City of Farmington Hills held its 33rd annual Holiday Lights Ceremony on December 2, 2025, at City Hall on Eleven Mile Road. The city lights the trees at City Hall and a 20-foot candle at the corner of Eleven Mile and Orchard Lake Roads. Watch the city's site for the 2026 date, and book your Christmas light installation well ahead of it.
The service in three parts
The lights come from us, we do the hanging wherever you want them, and the color is up to you. Takedown in January is included, so you never stand on a ladder in midwinter working frozen lights off the house.
Booking in Farmington Hills
Call in September or October. Farmington Hills borders Novi and Livonia, and it's minutes from Northville, so weather sets the timing. Dry shingles in October make for a safe install.
