BeforeGutter cleaning in Farmington Hills has to keep up with heavy canopy near Heritage Park and along the Rouge, which drops more into these gutters than they were built to carry. Many are still the original runs. We clear them by hand and tell you plainly when a hanger or a piece of fascia is done.

What Farmington Hills does to your gutters
Original gutters on fifty-year-old fascia
Spike-and-ferrule hangers driven into wood fascia in the 1960s and 1970s have been working loose through five decades of freeze and thaw. A section usually drops when it's full of wet leaves and then loaded with snow. It's worth knowing which run is weak before the first heavy snowfall.
Heavy trees near Heritage Park and the Rouge
Farmington Hills kept a lot of tree cover, including the wooded stretches along the branches of the Rouge River and the 200-plus acres of Heritage Park. Homes near them get a heavy oak and maple load, and the oaks keep dropping well into November.
Quad-levels and roofs at several heights
Farmington Hills has plenty of quad-levels and split-levels from the 1960s and 1970s. On many of them the upper roof drains onto a lower one, so the lower gutter takes water from both roofs and fills first. We clear every level and check where each upper downspout empties.

How your quote is worked out
Gutter cleaning is quoted per property, from the total linear footage, the number of downspouts, the height of the house and how complex the roofline is.
How long it takes
The time a gutter cleaning takes is set by the linear footage, the downspout count, the house height and the roofline complexity. The square footage of the house matters less. Two-story homes take longer, depending on how often the ladder has to move.

Why it happens in Farmington Hills
Farmington Hills gutters are often the originals, and they're tired
Most of this city was built between the 1960s and the 1980s, and a lot of houses still have the gutters they came with, hung on spikes driven into wood fascia. Fifty years of Michigan freeze and thaw work those spikes loose a little at a time. Fill the gutter with wet oak leaves in November, put a foot of snow on it in January, and the section that's been loosening since the 1990s finally lets go. Farmington Hills also kept a lot of trees, including the wooded stretches along the branches of the Rouge River and the 200-plus acres of Heritage Park, so there's real leaf load in the fall. We clean the gutter, and we tell you which hanger is about to give.
How we handle it in Farmington Hills
- Heavy oak and maple debris cleared by hand, including the packed wet leaves a blower can't move.
- Loose hangers, pulled spikes, open seams and sections that have lost their slope pointed out to you, before snow finds them.
- Downspouts flushed and checked, including the small original downspouts on 1970s houses that block more easily than modern ones.
- Quad-levels and split-levels done at every roof height, including the lower gutters that take water from the roof above.
- Debris bagged and hauled off, with the beds left clean.

Questions
Gutter cleaning questions from Farmington Hills homeowners
How much does gutter cleaning cost in Farmington Hills?
Gutter length, height, roof pitch and access are the starting point. Under the trees near Heritage Park and along the Rouge, the amount of debris can add a lot. If your hangers need a closer look, that's part of the visit. Send the address and we'll price it from there.
My gutter is sagging. Can you fix it?
We don't install or repair gutters, so we won't tell you it needs replacing when it doesn't. We will show you exactly what we found up there: loose spikes, an open seam, a section that has lost its slope, or rot in the fascia behind it. You can take that to whoever does the repair.
How often should Farmington Hills gutters be cleaned?
Most homes need it twice a year. Houses in the wooded areas near Heritage Park or along the Rouge branches get more leaves and are worth three visits. Book the fall visit for after the oaks are finished, which is usually well into November.
Do you check the downspouts as well?
Every one, on every visit. We flush each downspout and check that water comes out at the bottom. The original downspouts on a lot of the 1970s houses here are narrower than modern ones and block more easily, so they're worth checking before winter.
Does the city pick up yard waste in the fall?
Yes. In 2026 Farmington Hills collects yard waste, leaves included, on regular trash days from the week of April 6 through the week of December 14, in brown paper bags or marked cans. Anything we take out of your gutters, we bag and haul off ourselves, so it doesn't need to go out with yours.
The detail
Gutter cleaning in Farmington Hills, explained
Old gutters, old fascia, new snow
In Farmington Hills, the gutters are old. The city built out through the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, and many of the original gutters and hangers are still up. Spikes back out of wood fascia a little at a time, and nothing looks wrong until the gutter is carrying wet leaves and snow at once. We clear the debris and tell you what we found: which hangers are loose, where a seam has opened, and which section no longer drains toward the downspout.
Farmington Hills has more trees than people expect
Farmington Hills is a green city. Heritage Park alone covers more than 200 acres, and the branches of the Rouge River run wooded strips through the middle of neighborhoods. Houses near those trees get a fall leaf load closer to a rural property than a subdivision. Timing catches people out too: maples finish in mid October, oaks keep going for weeks, and a cleaning booked around the maples leaves the gutters full again by the freeze. We aim the last visit for after the oaks.
Condos and attached homes
About a third of the homes in Farmington Hills aren't owner-occupied, and many people here live in condos and apartments. In those buildings the association may own the gutters, and the board or property manager decides who cleans them. If you own a detached house or a townhouse where the gutters are yours, we'll quote it like any other home. Tell us which kind you have when you get in touch.
Farmington Hills' trees and the lay of the land
The city's parks plan puts tree cover at 20 to 40 percent across much of Farmington Hills, and its woods are largely deciduous, so they drop everything each fall. Woodland Hills, a city nature park on Farmington Road, adds 74 acres of meadow and hardwood forest to Heritage Park's 211. The city protects its bigger trees, too: removing one 6 inches or more across at chest height takes a city permit.
The land rises about 300 feet from the southeast corner of the city to the northwest, from around 600 feet up to 965 at the high point. On the hills, water off a roof runs fast toward whatever is downhill, so a downspout that empties toward the house, a neighbor or a walkout does more harm here than on flat ground.
Booking gutter cleaning in Farmington Hills
Two visits a year, or three under heavy trees. Fall is the busy stretch here for the reasons above, and it's the same few weeks when outside window cleaning and Christmas light installs need dry weather. Book them together in early fall, before late October, and they can go on one visit.
