What Bloomfield Hills does to your windows

  • Shade from trees beside the walls

Big lots leave space for big trees, and here they grow right up against the house. Shaded glass dries slowly after dew and rain, and whatever the trees drop on it, pollen, sap or grit, dries in place. The wooded sides of a Bloomfield Hills house are the ones that need the rinse.

  • Windows from six decades

A quarter of the city's homes predate 1960, and six in ten went up from 1960 through 1989, according to Census estimates covering 2020 to 2024. That spans wood sash, early sealed double-pane glass and newer units in one small city, and each one cleans a little differently.

  • Ponds, the Rouge and damp low ground

The Rouge River's main branch winds across the city, and small lakes such as Vhay and Endicott sit between the houses. Glass facing water or wet low ground holds condensation longer, and the film it leaves needs a full rinse.

How your quote is worked out

Window cleaning is quoted from your windows: how many, how many have divided panes or storms, and how high they are.

How long it takes

The length of a window cleaning visit is set by the same things that set the price: the window count, the number of divided-light openings, whether storm windows have to be taken out and refitted, and how many openings are above the first floor. We give you the expected time along with the quote.

“The screens were so clean, they disappeared.”

I have been a homeowner over many years with three different houses. This is by far the best window cleaning company I have ever used. The screens were so clean, they disappeared. I had my high-ceiling light fixture cleaned, and it looked better than when it was installed. So very impressed with their crew and how efficient they were. This will be my go-to window cleaning service from now on. I think they are the best around!

Why it happens in Bloomfield Hills

Bloomfield Hills glass sits in the shade of big trees

Bloomfield Hills is a small city of large lots. Oakland County's 2025 land use count lists 1,205 single-family parcels, and 831 of them are an acre or larger. A lot that size leaves room for full-grown trees right beside the walls, and the glass in their shade stays wet after dew and rain. Pollen in spring, sap and honeydew in summer and leaf grit in the fall land on those panes and dry in place. The house also sits back from the road, so its back and side windows face the woods, hidden from anyone pulling in. Those are the panes that go longest between cleanings, and the film shows as soon as the light comes through them.

How we handle it in Bloomfield Hills

  • Every side of the house cleaned, including the back and side glass that faces the trees and never shows from the road.
  • Outside panes rinsed with deionized water off a water-fed pole that works the upper windows from the lawn, with no ladder against the siding.
  • Inside panes done by hand over drop cloths, with screens and tracks cleaned at the same visit.
  • Sap and pollen from trees near the walls treated and loosened first, then rinsed away.
  • Panes with a failed seal pointed out, so you know which haze sits between the panes where no cleaning reaches.

“They double checked their work to make sure each window was streak free.”

Questions

Window cleaning questions from Bloomfield Hills homeowners

How much does window cleaning cost in Bloomfield Hills?

The glass sets the price: the number of windows, which ones have divided panes, which ones sit above the ground floor, and whether we're doing the inside too. On a big lot we also look at the back and sides, since that's where the hard-to-reach glass tends to be. Send the address and we'll walk it before we price it.

Is my Bloomfield Hills address inside the city?

Check the ZIP code. The whole City of Bloomfield Hills sits in 48304, although that ZIP also reaches past the city line. Bloomfield Hills addresses in 48301 and 48302 are outside the city, in Bloomfield Township and nearby areas. Share the full address and we'll sort it out with you before quoting.

Can you clean the windows that face the woods?

Yes. On a wooded lot, the back and side glass gets the least sun, so it stays damp and dirty longest. We clean the outside with a water-fed pole from the lawn, so nothing leans on the siding or sits in the beds, and the inside of those same windows gets done by hand.

How many times a year should Bloomfield Hills windows be cleaned?

Twice a year for the outside suits these lots: late spring once the pollen is done, and fall after the leaves drop. A house with big trees right over the walls can add a midsummer visit for sap. Inside glass can follow its own schedule, and winter dates are the easiest to get.

Why is there haze between my window panes?

That window is two panes sealed at the edges, and the seal has let go. Damp air got into the gap and left a film on the glass faces inside it. No squeegee can get in there from the room or the yard. A glass shop can replace the sealed unit, and we'll point out each pane that has it while we're there.

Does Bloomfield Hills tap water spot windows?

It can. The city's water comes from GLWA's Lake Huron plant through SOCWA, the county's water authority, and that plant's 2025 tap water averaged 105 milligrams of total hardness per liter, moderately hard by the USGS scale. Sprinkler and hose water leaves those minerals behind as it dries. Our outside rinse is deionized, so it leaves none.

The detail

Window cleaning in Bloomfield Hills, explained

A city of acre lots

The City of Bloomfield Hills counted 4,460 residents in 2020 and has some 1,700 homes across five square miles. Single-family lots cover more than half of its land, and 717 of its 1,205 house lots run from one to 2.4 acres. The houses are spread out, set back from the road, and surrounded by trees. For window cleaning, that means glass on all four sides with room to work, and a lot of shade on the sides that face the woods.

City or township: check your ZIP code

Bloomfield Township wraps around much of the city, and mail to both carries the name Bloomfield Hills. The whole city sits inside ZIP code 48304. Addresses in 48301 and 48302 fall outside the city limits. This page describes the city, its lots and its water. Give us the street address and we'll check which side of the line it's on.

Cranbrook and the wooded center of town

George and Ellen Booth bought a farm here in 1904, and Albert Kahn designed Cranbrook House for them, finished in 1908. Schools, Christ Church Cranbrook, the Institute of Science and an art museum grew up around it, and the 319-acre campus became a National Historic Landmark in 1989. Its grounds hold Lake Jonah and Kingswood Lake, and the Rouge runs nearby. The houses around it share that setting: tall trees, damp hollows and glass that sees more shade than sun.

Deionized water on the outside glass

Bloomfield Hills draws on GLWA's treatment plant on Lake Huron at Port Huron and buys the water through SOCWA, the regional authority, per the city's 2025 water quality report. That plant's 2025 tap water averaged 105 milligrams per liter of hardness, which is moderately hard on the USGS scale. When a sprinkler drop dries on glass, those minerals stay. Resin in our pole system strips them out first, so the panes dry clear, and the pole reaches second-story glass from the grass.

Inside work, screens and fixtures

Indoors, we lay drop cloths, hand-clean each pane and finish the corners with a dry cloth. We pull the screens to wash them, clean out the tracks and wipe each sill. A fixture hanging over the entry or the stairs can get chandelier cleaning during that visit, with the ladders already in place.

Haze that sits between two panes

Some windows are two panes sealed together around the edge. With age, that seal can give out, damp air gets into the gap, and a cloudy film forms on the inside faces of the two panes. No cleaning reaches it, from the room or from the yard. The fix is a new glass unit. When we find a pane like that, we tell you, so the haze left after a cleaning has an explanation.

When to book in Bloomfield Hills

We wash outside glass from March until November, and inside glass any month. On a wooded lot, the outside is best done after the spring pollen has settled and again once the leaves are down. If you also want the gutters cleared or Christmas lights on the roofline this year, ask for them in the same call in early fall.
