Window Cleaning in Canton, MI

Window cleaning in Canton covers two kinds of house. Cherry Hill Village has porches and small-pane sash, and the subdivisions off Ford Road and Canton Center have two-story foyers and big sliders. After a winter near Ford Road, the bottom third of the glass is grey with road film.

What Canton does to your windows
Cherry Hill Village fronts and porch glass
Cherry Hill Village was built on about 460 acres between 2000 and 2005 as Michigan's first neo-traditional development, with around 931 single-family lots plus townhouses and condos. The houses are deliberately detailed, with front porches, sidelights, transoms and multi-pane sash. It's a beautiful street with a lot of panes per house.
Ford Road in winter
Ford Road is one of the busiest roads in western Wayne County, and it gets salted hard from December through March. Homes and storefronts near it wear a brine film on the lower third of the glass and on every storm door, and it doesn't wipe off dry.
Flat lots, young trees and a lot of irrigation
Canton's newer subdivisions sit on flat, open ground with young street trees and full sprinkler systems. That means less tree litter than Livonia or Farmington Hills and a lot more sprinkler spray, so mineral spots on the lower panes build up faster here than leaf and sap stains.

How your quote is worked out
Window cleaning is quoted from your windows: how many, how many have divided panes or storms, and how high they are.
How long it takes
The length of a window cleaning visit is set by the same things that set the price: the window count, the number of divided-light openings, whether storm windows have to be taken out and refitted, and how many openings are above the first floor. We give you the expected time along with the quote.

Why it happens in Canton
Canton houses have more glass than they look
More than half of Canton's houses date from 1990 on, when builders stopped counting windows. A typical Canton colonial has a two-story entry with an arched transom, a stairwell window, a bay in the breakfast nook, sliders to the deck and a row of basement windows at ground level. Cherry Hill Village went further: built between 2000 and 2005 with Victorian and Colonial Revival fronts, its houses are covered in small panes, porch glass and sidelights. From the street it looks like a routine two-story job, and then the glass adds up to far more than the owner guessed. We go through every window before we quote.
How we handle it in Canton
- Quotes built from the windows, the divided panes in them and how high they sit, which adds up on the Cherry Hill Village fronts, where one window can have a lot of small panes.
- Two-story entry glass, arched transoms and stairwell windows cleaned from the ground with a deionized water-fed pole.
- Basement and egress windows at ground level cleaned and their wells cleared of leaves. Everyone forgets that row until the basement looks dark.
- Winter brine film on storm doors, sidelights and the front of the house dissolved and rinsed off.
- Screens, tracks and sills included on every interior cleaning, plus sliders and their bottom tracks, which take the worst of it on a Canton deck door.
“Had my windows, screens and frames all cleaned in under two hours.”
Questions
Window cleaning questions from Canton homeowners
How much does window cleaning cost in Canton?
We quote from the windows: how many there are, how many have divided panes, and how high the entry glass reaches. Count the transoms, sidelights, sliders and the basement row, and the total comes out higher than owners expect. Inside versus outside only, and how much glass is fixed, matter too. Give us the address and we'll go through it and send a quote.
Can you clean the arched window above my front door?
Yes, and it may be the job we're asked for most in Canton. The outside comes clean from the ground with a water-fed pole. The inside depends on the ceiling and the staircase, and we'll look at it before we quote.
Do you clean basement and egress windows?
Yes. Nearly every Canton house has basement awning windows and egress wells, and they almost always get skipped, which is why the basement feels darker than it should. We clean the glass and clear the leaves out of the well while we're there.
How often should Canton windows be cleaned?
Spring and fall suits most homes here. Homes with heavy irrigation, or close to Ford Road and the other salted roads, benefit from a third visit, because mineral spots and winter brine build up faster than tree litter in this part of the township.
Do you do whole streets or subdivisions in Canton?
Yes. Canton's subdivisions are large and consistent, so several houses on one street can go on the same day. If your neighbors want it done too, say so when you get in touch and we'll quote the houses together.
How do I know if my windows have a coating?
Ask yourself when the windows went in. New-build and recent replacement windows are the ones that can carry a room-side low-E coating, and it looks like plain glass. The glass maker Cardinal advises against razor blades and abrasive cleaners on its version. Tell us the age of your windows, and we'll check before we start.
The detail
Window cleaning in Canton, explained
Lots of houses, built alike
Canton Township has more owner-occupied homes than any city in our area except Livonia, and nearly all of them are modern. Whole streets went up in the same two or three years with the same few floor plans, so the house types and the glass are consistent. Once we've done one house on a street, we know what the rest look like.
Two-story entries, transoms and the glass you cannot reach
The Canton window everyone means is the one over the front door: arched or Palladian, fixed, two stories up, and filmed over because the homeowner can't reach it. Behind it there's usually a stairwell window and a great-room wall facing the back yard. Our water-fed pole reaches nearly all of that from the ground, and the inside gets done with the right equipment for the ceiling height. If a fixture hangs in that entry, ask about chandelier cleaning on the same visit.
Salt in winter, minerals in summer
Canton glass has two seasons of problems. From December to March, salted roads throw brine onto storm doors, sidelights and the bottom of every front-facing pane, and dry-wiping that grey film just grinds the salt and grit around. From May to September, sprinklers mist the lower panes and leave hard water spots as the water dries. Both need water that carries the deposit away when it leaves the glass, which is what deionized water does.
Canton's housing, decade by decade
Canton is younger than Livonia or Plymouth. The median house here was built in 1991, and just over half of the township's 38,000-plus homes went up in 1990 or later, by the Census Bureau's 2020–2024 count. The single biggest decade was the 1970s, with about 11,000 homes, and building hasn't stopped: Canton issued permits for 1,112 new single-family houses from 2020 through 2025.
Each era has its own glass. Canton's older neighborhoods, such as Holiday Park near Koppernick and Haggerty roads, which the township calls one of its oldest, have windows that are fifty years old or have been replaced since. The newer subdivisions have tall entry glass and grids sealed between the panes, and the newest houses can carry a room-side low-E coating that a razor blade will scratch. We ask how old the house is when you call, because the answer changes the job.
Booking Canton
We like to do a whole street or subdivision in one day. If your neighbors are thinking about it too, book together and say so, and we'll plan the street as one day. Canton's outside season runs March into November, and inside cleaning goes on all year. If you want gutters cleared before the freeze or Christmas lights hung, tell us in early fall while there's still room on the calendar.
