What Brighton does to your windows
Very hard water from the city wells
City water this hard leaves calcium and magnesium wherever it evaporates. A sprinkler head that reaches the house spots the bottom row of glass each time it runs, and the spots stack into a white film that glass cleaner only smears.
Lake cottages giving way to bigger houses
Over twenty named lakes lie in the township, Fonda and Woodland among them. Its 2020 master plan says many small, older homes on narrow lake lots are getting upgrades or giving way to larger houses. A bigger house on the same narrow lot leaves little room at the sides, so we decide where each ladder stands before the day.
Estate lots on wooded gravel roads
Big country estates sit along the township's tree-lined gravel roads, its 2020 plan notes, and its woodland tops 2,000 acres. Windows that look onto those trees take pollen in spring and leaf grit in fall, and we clean them as fully as the glass by the front door.

How your quote is worked out
Window cleaning is quoted from your windows: how many, how many have divided panes or storms, and how high they are.
How long it takes
The length of a window cleaning visit is set by the same things that set the price: the window count, the number of divided-light openings, whether storm windows have to be taken out and refitted, and how many openings are above the first floor. We give you the expected time along with the quote.

Why it happens in Brighton
Brighton city water is very hard, and the glass shows it
The City of Brighton pumps its water from three wells, and its 2025 water quality report rates the hardness at 25 to 27 grains. That is very hard on the U.S. Geological Survey's scale. When sprinkler or hose water lands on a window and dries, the calcium and magnesium stay on the glass as white spots, and every watering adds another layer. Given a few summers, the buildup can bond to the pane and stop coming off with an ordinary cleaning. Out in Brighton Township, homes generally rely on private wells with no published hardness figure, so there we go by what we find on the glass.
How we handle it in Brighton
- Lower panes spotted by city water given a mineral-removal pass before the regular cleaning.
- Outside panes wiped and dried by hand, out to the edge of the frame.
- Glass on the lake side of township homes cleaned inside and out, sliders and their tracks included.
- Drop cloths down for every inside clean, with screens washed and tracks and sills wiped.
- Townhouses in the city, quoted on their own glass.
Questions
Window cleaning questions from Brighton homeowners
How much does window cleaning cost in Brighton?
We price from the glass itself: the window count, any small divided panes, the height of the upper floor, and inside or outside only. Lower panes spotted by city water can add a restoration step. Send the address and list what you'd like cleaned, and we'll work up a price.
Can window cleaning in Brighton take off hard water spots?
Fresh ones, yes. The city's 2025 report lists 25 to 27 grains, so sprinkler spots build with every watering, and a restoration step clears them while they're new. Spots left for years can etch the pane, and etched glass stays etched. We'll show you which panes are which before you pay for restoration.
Why does my Brighton Township address say Milford?
Because part of the township sits in ZIP 48380, and 48380 is a Milford code. Census Bureau ZIP data put 26 percent of the township's land in it, so homes there can get mail addressed to Milford. Even GM's proving ground, partly inside the township, gives its address as Milford. The rest of the township is chiefly 48114. We work in Brighton and Milford, so the label on the mail doesn't change anything for your quote.
How often should Brighton windows be cleaned?
Plan on two outside cleanings a year: one when the spring pollen has finished, and one in fall. On city water, glass the sprinklers reach can need a third visit in summer, since the spots build each time the system runs. The inside can be done in winter, when dates are easy to get.
Do you clean lake houses in Brighton Township?
Yes. The township's lakes include Woodland, Clark, Fonda and Osborn. The glass facing the water gets cleaned on both sides, and the deck doors and their tracks are part of it. On a narrow lake lot, we plan the setup before we arrive.
Is window cleaning available in Brighton Township, outside the city?
Yes. The city and the township have separate governments, but one trip covers both. If you know whether the house is on city water or a well, mention it, since that changes what we look for on the glass. We also work in Milford, to the east. Send the street address, and a quote follows.
The detail
Window cleaning in Brighton, explained
The city and the township next to it
Brighton means two local governments. The City of Brighton started in 1832 as a settlement along what was then the Grand River Trail. It was a village by 1867 and a city by 1928, and about 7,700 people live there now. Brighton Charter Township, next door, has about 19,300 residents, and nineteen in twenty of its households are owner-occupied. The two are run separately and get their water differently: the city from its own wells, the township from mostly private wells, with community wells in some subdivisions and public mains along a few roads. We work in both and quote every house on what its windows need.
Spots that come back with every watering
Hard water does its damage as it dries. New spots come off with a restoration pass ahead of the normal cleaning. Spots left to bake on for years can etch the pane, and a regular cleaning can't undo etching, so you'll hear which kind you have before any restoration is billed. Turning sprinkler heads away from the house keeps the spots from coming straight back.
Private wells in the township
In the township, private deep wells are the main source, and community wells serve some older neighborhoods, among them the ones at Osborn, Fonda and Briggs lakes. No hardness figure covers those wells, so we don't quote one. If yours has been tested, the number tells you how quickly sprinkler spots will build.
Glass that faces the lakes
Lakes, ponds and streams cover more than 1,000 acres of Brighton Township. On a lake lot, we clean the glass that faces the water on both sides, along with the doors out to the deck or yard and their tracks. If a cottage on your lot has been replaced with a larger house, tell us when you book, so the setup for the side yards is planned ahead.
Downtown and the older city houses
Downtown Brighton centers on Main Street and Grand River Avenue, beside the Millpond and the Tridge, the walkway built across it in 1993. The city is the more built-up of the two. Just 42.7 percent of its homes stand detached, and the rest includes townhouses and apartments. About 6 percent of city homes were built in 1939 or before, and the Western House at 500 West Main Street, an Italianate building, has been on the National Register since 1986. Where an older house keeps its first glass, the panes are thin and the putty is brittle, so each pane is hand cleaned and nothing sharp touches the putty.
When to book in Brighton
We clean outside windows from March through December. Inside glass can be done in any month, and January and February are for inside work only, so they're the easiest months to get an inside date. Brighton is about 20 miles from our Northville base along I-96, and gutter cleaning or a Christmas light install can ride along on the same trip if you mention it when you book.
